Joe Pugliese

Hemophilia Alliance

Joe Pugliese has been involved in the hemophilia community for the last 38 years. He started in 1978 as a sales representative in Chicago with the Armour Pharmaceutical Company. He has held a variety of positions over the years including General Manager of Hemophilia Services, and was named the Vice President and General Manager of North America for Aventis Behring (successor company of Armour) in 2001.

Under Joe’s direction, and with the cooperation and creative thinking of many talented associates, Armour led the way in innovative, nationally recognized programs and services for the hemophilia community. These included Hemalog, Reimbursement Alert, Project Red Flag, Laurie Kelley’s series of books, plant tours, Getting in the Game, ABChoice and Victory Lane Kids. Joe left Aventis Behring in April 2004 when it was acquired by CSL.

He joined Amerisource Bergen Specialty Group as President of the Specialty Pharmacy business in 2004 and eventually departed to pursue other interests in the hemophilia community.

His ongoing discussions with the Hemophilia Alliance led to his assisting in the formation of a GPO. On January 1, 2006, he signed on as a consultant. In 2008, he was asked to serve as the President of the Hemophilia Alliance. Joe was named Chairman of The Alliance Pharmacy in 2010 and founded the Hemophilia Alliance Foundation in 2013.

Joe has been married to Karen for 42 years. They have five children and seven grandchildren.
